Both actually...I am asking what people have used and what their own personal preference and experience has been.
And thanks so much for all those links NewbeeBaker...I will definitley check them all out!!
My personel preference is to ice the water fall in a fairlyl smooth white, air brush with a blue (two different shades) then take the back of a spoon or the end of a spatula and kinda dip, twist, pull and twirl all at the same time (the spoon, not you!)
I have a jungle cake in my pics I did a water fall for that.. it could of been done better but I iced it white and then color decorating gel blue adn used that to make the water fall it is very realistic looking and was a big hit at the party... good luck!
that sounds great leily...but I don't have an airbrush!! (Hopefully one day!!)
I'm with you on that one!

Your cake looks great!! And I made the same rocks already (I guess great minds think alike!..lol)
I am just worried about using BC since the cakes are going to be covered in fondant...not sure if it will "blend" well?
