How far in advance can you mold candy? I have to do a seashell wedding cake in a month and wondering when i can start on it. I bought Merckens as I heard they were better, but I've never worked with them. Also, I need to lustre dust them. Last time I made them, I used vodka to paint it on, but they got kind of gummy or something. Do you drybrush it on?

you can start any time now. Yes just brush the dust on dry, Make sure not to handle the chocolate much after dusting as your fingers will smear the dust.
