I need a new cake knife & server! I'm not sure what kind to get though! I'd like one that make's nice, clean cuts! The one I have now is a smooth blade and it seems to really tear the slices up! I don't get a smooth cut really at all!! icon_cry.gif It's a smooth blade. I'm wondering if a serrated edge blade would be better? I like a cake server as well. It's easier for me to use both knife and server when cutting and serving many pieces of cake. Most of the cakes I'm doing these days are for functions that I attend as well and yes of course, if you do the cake, you usually cut and serve it as well......at least that's what's happened in my case for the last few years! Let me know if you have a favorite kind/brand of cake knife! Smooth blade or serrated!!!
Thanks for your opinions!!!! icon_lol.gif

I use the Pampered Chef pie/cake server. It isn't fancy but works great for me. It is serrated, pie-wedge shaped and comes with a protective cover.

Definitely serrated. It makes all the difference in the world. icon_smile.gif

You also would want to reserve it only for cakes so as to keep it sharp. Be careful not to drag it along any glass cake plate your cakes might be on...it will dull the knife considerably.
