A little background:Wedding cake is due Saturday...Met with the bride yesterday to pick up the silk flowers for the cake. Bride now has a "wedding planner"... The cake will be displayed in front of two white double doors. Wedding planner asked me if I could provide the background, ...if I rented backgrounds - " a curtian" to cover up the doors". I thought about a faux curtian. I can get a curtian rod and material. Anybody have a good idea?

You are not usually responsible for the background decorations. However, you could cover the doors with printed/solid paper. Frankly, if the coordinator wants is covered, the coordinator should cover it.

Your curtain idea would probably work but be much more expensive.

Thanks for your response. If I do supply the background it would not be free. I would charge a fee for doing this, the coordinator asked if I rented so I would proabably charge a fee to cover the cost of materials. Do you think a shimmery white or satin for the best all around background?

I would guess something that shows off the cake and keeps with the decoration theme. do you know what they are using for table linens?

Tables will be covered in white...but she said she had a special shimmery table cloth to go on the cake table. The walls are a light tan.

How about a tri-fold room divider / folding screen? They come in a variety of styles, you could still hang fabric on it, portable light weight and easy to use.

Nothing shimmery. You don't want it to bounce light off on all your (and their) pictures!

If the cake is white, go with one of her accent colors so the cake doesn't "blend" in to the background.

Tri-fold, great idea. Thanks! Her colors are light aqua, silver and her flowers are....finally....fuchsia roses and hot pink gerbera daises...
