I got that same reaction from my husband but its true he did everything except the crumb coat which come on i had to do that for him but he flipped the cake out of the pan and filled it and everything I was suprised myslef with how talented he is with a star tip but I showed him on a plate how to do it and to make sure all the stars touched eachother and it was just like second nature to him if he found a spot that was empty he went back in and filled it in i think im going to start teaching him little by little more and more things now that I know he can handle it he says today maybe he can get as good as the people who make the cakes on that food channel I didnt even know he paid any attention when I watched those mommy is very proud and he is excited to hear all of your nice comments thankyou from both of us.

I was just reading another post about an 8 year old & her cake. Now I see this awesome little man with his cake, only 7 years old. He could have a great career ahead of him. Well done. It is great.

Oh he's so cute and his cake is just darling. I just love to see parents introduce wholesome hobbies to their children - you never know, he may just grow up to be a pastry chef and be on TV like Emeril.

Recently I attended a Cake Club meeting where a member's 14 year old daughter did a demonstration of Chocolate Dipped Strawberries with different designs on top. Everyone attending gave her their full undivided attention and she did so well. Let's not forget the younger generation, they love to be creative too.

HIS baseball cake is great...thats awesome...
I have a 4 year old is a great helper, he helps me do
little things now like wrap boards and add in the milk and
oil...he gets his little spongebob chair and pays close attention.
He looks thru the Wilton books, carries them around with him lol.
And he loves loves looking thru the galleries here on CC with me.
He'll say Mama lets look at Dinosaur cakes, lets look at Four Wheeler
cakes...lol hes totally a boy, but I am really proud he pays attention
to details like cakes and compliments me and others when they have
on nice clothes or something new. In a world where children have so
little nice manners now, and grow up not learning to pay attention to
others "likes", it makes me feel really good that he is just the opposite.
Ya know...that Im doing it right...woohoo....
and as for ya saying....

my baby came running in the laundry room one nite last week, mommy hurry mommy hurry there is cake on tv... there was a cake competition on food network and I just had to sit and watch with him....
gotta love it...
kudos to all the CC moms and their aspiring little decorators thumbs_up.gif

Don't you love the extra help?! My 2 yr old loves to "help." Though usually it leads to disaster, so I try to give her something to do. Last week, she got to "wash" the tips in the sink.

My three year old grandaughter is always wanting to help, so the other day we decorated cupcakes. She got the "squeeze and lift" down in no time. Yesterday she was playing with her baby dolls-she uses a cotton hanky for the diaper, and was folding it to put on the baby-she folded the hanky into a triangle, and said-"Look, Meme, all we need is a tip, and it could be an icing bag!" icon_surprised.gif

I agree Duff should look out! GREAT cake for your little man,
be sure to tell him how impressed we all are thumbs_up.gif

Oh...MY...CakeGods!!! He is already talented!! (Is he looking for a part time job?? Hehehe)

I cannot wait until my little guy is old enough to get involved with more than bowl licking (not quite 2 yet). I won't push it, but if he shows any interest, I will definitely encourage it like you have. KUDOS to both of you!!

That is fantasic. He did a great job.

My 4 yr old step-daughter likes to help too. She gets a kitchen chair and stands on it so that she can see what I am doing and help with stirring and such. She likes to break the eggs ( have to double check for pieces of the shell), but that is fine as long as she likes it. It reminds me of cooking with my grandmother when I was little, her kitchen chair probably still has my feet prints in it.

Congratulations! What a great job. He has patience for a child. Great job. You know....my younger son (now 30) used to love to do stuff in the kitchen with me....cooking and baking. (Did regular kid stuff too--LOL). Anyway...I encouraged him, etc. Today he is an Executive Chef! I am very proud of him.

He is so cute and the cake too. Excellent work.

On the same token I want congrats all the CC momo's that take the time to share their passion with their kids. You inspired some of us to star sharing with our kids. For thew first time my little girl is going to decorate a heart cake I made yesterday specially for. Her face was glowing when I told her. Every minute she will ask if the cake is done. The only thing I plan to do is crom coat the cake and leave the rest for her to enjoy and try not to butt in and not cringe with the mess.

I will post latter her work of art.

Maybe one of these days CC could host a little competition for the kids. Moms could moniter the entries just to make sure that the kids do something decent. We could have it in age groups, that would be fair & maybe we could organize that each child receives a certificate of some sort recognizing their effort. That way every child would feel special. I'm sure the certificates could be sent via Email, then Mom could just print it out. What do you all think. I love encouraging kids.
