A kids contest icon_lol.gifthumbs_up.gif that would be wonderful!! i'm glad if i inspired any of you to start your kids with cake decorating I would love to see there creations. I cant wait to see the heart cake how old is your little girl? I was one of those that was terrified of letting them have at it all on there own with my precious cake things and oh the mess i would have to clean up but it was a wonderful experience in the end to see how happy and proud he was and I think he is cleaner than I am.

Wow..his cake is amazing. It is so nice that we all do this and our kids see it and get involved. My 2 year old loves to crack eggs for his scrambled eggs in the morning and it makes him so happy. I always have left over batter and bake up a small 4 or 6 inch cake and the last one I made I let him put sugar decos on it wherever he wanted, and he loved it. He took it to his grammies house and kept telling everyone to look at his cake!

When I was in college, you wouldn't believe the friends I had that never cracked an egg or made anything. So we all should be very proud that we take the time to do this with our kids! I think it does more than we could imagine!

I'm also loving the kids competition idea. I think it would be awesome to have different age groups too. How much fun would this be!!?!??!

Heather2780, I am not sure, but I think we could do certificates by Email or something, is that what you mean. It would be wonderful to do them with you & anyone else who would like to help, I think we could all have a wondeful joint effort here, don't you. I hope lots of others read this topic & give us a heads up. I will Email Jackie & Heath. I leave for Los Angeles tomorrow, but will try & get it done before I go.

He did a great job!!!
I have a nine year old daughter that decorates with me (she made my birthday cake all by herself) and a three year old son that loves to help. When we were making cookies last week, he got the spatula out and "painted" the cookies. Decorating them did not give them enough icing. icon_rolleyes.gif I also have a 3 1/2 nephew I keep everyday that is learning to help! Once you turn that mixer on, watch out!! Her comes a step stool on top of your feet!!! icon_razz.gif My kids love to help cook dinner too! Someday they will be able to take great care of me! icon_lol.gif
Keep up the great work to all the kids (and moms too!!!)!

I went to the cake contests & suggestions in the forums & I found that a CC member Helendelk, actually had the same idea in June 2006. It was a very popular idea, but Heath posted that it would not be possible at that time. I understand where he is coming from. That is actually when the kids gallery started. Go to the topic & have a look at what Heath says.

Absolutely. There is always a place for our children & grandchildren's cakes on CC & they do have a lovely gallery of their very own too.

He did an excelent job. Looks like the others are right A budding pastry chef on your hands.

My 7 year old grandaughter decorated her mom's birthday cake last year. I baked and iced then went to pick her up showed her how to use the bag and let her use any of my leftover decorations she wanted. She had a ball.

That's too bad superstar, but you know... situations are always changing. Perhaps soon it will be possible to have some sort of contest like that. We won't give up on that idea... just put it on the back burner! icon_wink.gif

Also, I didn't come across the other thread yet... perhaps it didn't seem to be popular because other things were going on at the time! You know us... we get so distracted looking at these lovely cakes! icon_wink.gif

You are so right Melvira. Who knows, Jackie & Heath will one of these days say it can be done. In the meantime let us all see the kids cakes & encourage them as much as we can.
