I Feel Like I've Seen A Peek Into Your World Now, Lol

Hi everyone just back from a terrific few weeks my first time in the states. Anyway I spent my last week just outside Sacramento and I got to visit Michael's that you all talk about so much. I 've never seen so much craft bits and bobs in my life, they were lucky I ever came out and what was going on while I was there. A Wilton Cake Decorating Class! Another often discussed topic on this site.
It was very funny really because I felt so chuffed with myself just to be in the store I'd heard so much about and then to have a class that I hear so much about operating at the time.
So if any of you were at class in Michael's at the Galleria something or other (i think its in Roseville) Between Sacramento and Rocklin, I seen ya!!!
How neat for you !!
The things and the stores we take advantage of here, it is a shame!
I really want to visit Ireland someday! I bet it is just beautiful! My DH and I had a chance to make it there for our honeymoon, but kindof chickened out. It was a cross country trip, where you pick up your rental car and a map with premarked destinations. Everything was pre-paid along the way and you stayed in different bed and breakfast. (My DH needs help making it across our town, I just know we would be lost for sure) Maybe we will get up the courage for an anniversary.
So glad you enjoyed your trip to the States! Did you buy anything at Michael's? It's hard to leave out of that store without buying at least $25 or more!
Glad that you enjoyed your US trip - I think we passed each other - I on my way back from UK.
Michaels is something, isn't it? Can't think of anything like it in UK, although I spent my time in a bakery rummaging around the bits and pieces to see how it compared to what we get over here.

Awesome! I live less than an hour from where you were! I am taking my cake classes at Michael's!
LOL Lisa, we were there on a monday evening around 7 pm I think, maybe I seen you do your class, lol. We was in Rocklin for six days to wind down before we came home. We had done a cross country mad driving spree the week before, Zion-Bryce-Monument Valley-Grand Canyon-Vegas-Yosemite and Disney in LA the week before that, getting it very hard to settle back into work!
I spent about $50 in it, my daughter got lovely scrapbooking bits and bobs, she's going to do up a scrapbook of our holiday for her Scouting Travel Badge and I came home with some piping tubes, heart cookie cutters, fondant ribbon cutter and loads and loads of ribbon. I pay about 1.25 here for a yard of ribbon which is about $1.40, there was a deal on for reels of ribbon and I bought about 10, lol.
BB being British you know that we are definitely under catered for as far as arts and crafts go in England and Ireland, I have to get everything by mail order here.
Anyway you guys have a lovely country, people are very friendly and I came home with a whole different attitude to the USA than I had, always imagined it as a very fast moving slightly scary place. I found it fast in parts (vegas....) but everyone has time to talk to you and I found it amazing that we were able to leave things inside our car without worrying about it being broken into. Unfortunately you can't do that here anymore. Everyone says can i help you and please and thanks. Over here Ireland of the 100 Welcomes has turned into What do you want and a grunt in a lot of cases. We do still have lots of nice people though and lovely restaurants, but our sandwich bars and fast food joints are gone to pott, majority of the workers in those industries either can't speak english and haven't a clue what you want. Sad but true maybe I'm still jetlagged, lol.... finding it difficult to readjust, three weeks is a long time to be away from this desk!
Was raised around Sacramento. Went to high school at Rio Linda and Folsom so that is close to Roseville. Glad you enjoyed your visit to the states. I moved to Missouri in 1966 but was in California two years ago on vacation. I can't imagine you saying you could leave something in your car and not worry about it. My family that lives there spends half their time locking and unlocking doors. Where I live in Missouri I never worry about locking the doors on my car or my house most of the time.
Glad you enjoyed Michael's. I prefer shopping at Hobby Lobby but I don't know if they have those in Calif.
Would love to see Ireland as my ancestors are from there.
Happy decorating!!
Diane
