I am making a wedding cake with white buttercream. I would love to give my buttercream icing a satiny sheen that I have seen in some of the wedding cake pictures. Does anyone know how to achieve this look???

It is a dusting powder-like luster dust, or pearl dust etc. Sorry I don't have a link for your right now. Check on the dusts. icon_smile.gif

Luster dust and pearl dust bring that effect. Check in your local cake supply store but if not www.sugarcraft.com has it as well as a few others like www.cakesbysam.com. Call around to your local stores first before you pay fro shipping and handling. Good luck!

I find too that just doing the viva paper towel trick seems to leave a beautiful sheen to bc iced cakes....I think it must be (I'm only guessing) that the warmth from your hands begins to slightly melt the surface of the frosting........Every cake that I've done the viva trick on has turned out with a shiny kinda sheen to it.
