Gumpaste Reciept????

Hi Ya'll,
Well I have finally found Nicholas Lodge's gumpaste reciept, but I don't know what Tylose is. I checked wilton.com and nothing. Does anyone know if it is avaliable in stores or only on-line? The only stores avaliable to me are Michaels and Joanns--(so sad) I really want to teach myself to do wonderful flowers.

there are lots of products that would do they same thing if you cannot get your hands on it.. try an online search for products that compare

Wilton doesn't make Tylose. The closest thing Wilton has to it is Gum-Tex. Gum Tragicanth can also be used to make gumpaste, but again it isn't a Wilton product. So if you are going to have to order someting I'd stick to the Tylose.

I have read that Tylose is syntheticGum Tragacanth. Real Gum Trag is a plant product.

I thought I read here that wilton gumpatse was terrible to work with. As a begininer will it be ok to use? And if I am good enough will it still make life-like flours?

if you can make your own it will be better...... other wise I am sure the mix or pre made will be fine for some practice..... give it a go .. its fun.

I just wanted to say, Wilton has come out with a premade gumpaste. When they rest the Wilton section at Michaels they will start carrying it.

I don't know how it compairs to other gumpastes yet, but it might be worth trying out.
