I posted this at the bus section but was wondering. I am trying to figure out if I should make the black forest cake in a round (if so what size) or sheet form (if so what size)? Should I charge more or less for the size if it's serving the same amount of people? I know the traditional Black Forest is round but this girl thinks that a sheet will be cheaper. I thinking it wont as the serving size is the same....thoughts?

A sheet cake, you're only going to be doing 1 layer, but it's going to have to be a 1/2 sheet cake. If you do a round, it will be 2 layers, but it will only have to be a 10" maybe a 12" if you want to make sure there is too much instead of not enough. Here is a link that's really helpful when I have questions like this.

Hope this helps!!

I do a 12" round for 30 - especially if it is the primary dessert at the event.

a 12 x 18 sheet would be more than enough but since part of the cake is the filling it would need to be torted and so cost the same or more than a round...

a 10 inch 2 layer cake will serve 30 with leftovers and you would not need to tort

An 11x15 sheet pan will feed 35-40 (2x2 inch squares).
