I was just working on a cake where I needed black fondant. Got distracted for a minute, but I have a 3 and 1 year old at home with me. While I was working, my 1 year old climbed onto the kitchen table where I was, completely covered in black food coloring! It is everywhere!
Frustrating, yet funny. icon_lol.gificon_cry.gif
Of course, I took lots of pictures.

That is funny. (for me anyway since I don't have to clean it up icon_wink.gif ) maybe he want's to be on the cake? My friend's little boys got hold of a permanent marker for 1 minute but they worked fast. There were scribble marks everywhere.

Wow, that stuff is hard to get off too! It turns red when you wash it!

I always keep my kitchen gated off...and either work when the kids are sleeping or busy playing/watching tv...mostly sleeping though. My 6 yo and 4 yo know to stay out of the cakes so they can climb over the gate but it keeps my 2 yo effectively out. (My 4 yo steals icing sometimes but at least he knows not to mess with mom's cakes! Sometimes though if I leave some "emergency bags" of colored icings on the counter, I'll find my 4 yo with tell tale dye around his mouth....)

(Patiently waiting for naptime today, I have alot to get done!)

Last Saturday I was making a cake last minute for a friend. I left to go grab another tip (for just a moment!) and came back to my daughter covered in green color and had touched the cake! So lucky she had touched where the cars would later cover, but she went to the party with dark green finger tips!

Too funny! I can laugh because I wasn't the one who had to clean it up. Kids will do the funniest things!

Americolors, a closed up car, and TX weather dont mix either. I packed up my stuff for class yesterday morning and then went to work. At class when it was time to color my fondant I opened my electric green and poof! It splattered all over my white shirt and my neck. Sometimes you just gotta laugh!

Have you ever taken any classes at Cake Carousel in Richardson? If you havent you should at least go to their store - they are super nice.

I haven't taken any of their classes, but I have wanted to. You know, scheduling a babysitter and all. But I have shopped there a few times!

I always take the evening classes because I work during the day. The class I am in right now is pretty cool - last night we made fantasy flowers and butterflies like in Collette Peters book. In a couple of weeks Bronwen Weber is teaching that I am hoping to take.

I love her! Would you mind telling me what class that is so I can look it up?
I actually called her bakery a few weeks ago to see if I could come in and see her cakes...they set up an appointment for me, but I am totally intimidated!!! icon_redface.gif

icon_lol.gif That's a memory - and a page in the scrapbook! I have 2 & 4 yrs old girls, and no matter what you do they're going to get into 'it'! My darling 2yr old had a nap the other day, so I ran into the kitchen. Before you know I heard her talking and jumping in her crib. Okay, I says to myself.... just one more minute baby .... I finished up and ran upstairs to get her. icon_eek.gificon_confused.gif I knew before I even opened the door!! She didn't have access to food coloring, so she improvised - rather well I may add. Her use of color on the walls, bedding and hair was very artistic. All I could do was think 'crap' - and run the bath water. I'm glad it was after I finished in the kitchen, or I would'nt look at chocolate the same ever again. You have to love them icon_wink.gif .
P.S. - Were I didn't take any pictures, for more than obvious reasons .... I would love to see you little monkey in his fondant suit!

I so do not envy you. My 3 year old went through that phase about a year ago, and it lasted way too long. It was like, ANY time I didn't know he had a dirty diaper, I would come into the room and it would ber everywhere.
I hope you aren't about to experience the same thing, because it was awful! All I could do was buy a steam cleaner...thank goodness he is potty trained now.

Hello. There is a food color remover for skin and for kitchen surfaces that works really great. I can't remember if it's through Bakery Craft or Decopac. It doesn't smell good but it get the job done. It's a white bottle with burgandy wrinting on it.
