How Do I Get Mmf To Dry Hard And Other Questions.

I have tried to make things (for example a crown) and it never seems to be hard enough or as hard as the wilton fondant. Can you add gumtex or gumpaste powder to it. That leads to another question. What is the difference between gum paste and fondant? I'm still exploring the world of cakes and all the different options to use with cakes. If anyone has fun things they have discovered or prefer using please share, and why you prefer it. I hope all that made since.
Thanks,
Natt
Gumpaste dries hard and dries fast. It is generally used for delicate decorations because it can be rolled very thin.
You can blend fondant and gumpaste- 50/50 is recommended for many applications.
You can also add gumtex or Tylose to fondant to get closer to gumpaste.
I haven't had a chance to use fondant for modelling myself (planning to though in 2 weeks) but I have asked around to get prepared and I've been told it can take days for fondant to dry hard (depending on humidity). You might be better off using gumpaste if you don't have time to wait for fondant to dry hard. Good luck!
Does the gumtex or tylose work with the mmf? Same with the 50/50 trick. I know the mmf is a little different and my mother-in-law tried the Tylose and it didn't seem to work. I am willing to let it dry a few days but the crown wasn't quite hard enough to stand on its own (plain mmf). So I was just trying to find something stronger.

I was wondering if you make mmf and you just needed a little of it to form decorations, could you knead some gum-tex in it to make just that section harder?
