As I've mentioned 300 times already, I'm doing a baby shower cake for this weekend.

There will probably be about 20 people there. Not too big. I don't want to do a tiered cake...I'm just not at that level yet LOL

Do you think a 9 x 13 cake would be enough? I just want to do a sheet cake, or if that won't work, then I could do a double layer round cake.

What's a good rule for determining how big of a cake you should make?

Thanks! icon_smile.gif

I guess it depends on a couple factors.... how big do you want to serve your pieces of cake and how tall is your cake. I think 9x13 should be enough for 20 or a 10 in. round also. I like my cakes tall though, about 4 inches. HTH.

I think that a 9 x 13 should be good. The other thing to think about is that not everyone may eat cake, especially if there is other food/desserts there. And some peope dont like cake(yeah, i know, how can you not??lol)Good Luck!

I agree with nefgaby, I think 9x13 is fine and I also like a tall cake, so if it were me I would stack 2 9x13's on top of each other, HUGE cake and will at that point feed around 45ish.

I, too, would use stacked and filled 9 X 13 cakes for this occasion. I love tall cakes. icon_biggrin.gif
