ok my moms birthday is in june and my dad wants me to make her cake. She will be 52. He wants me to make a 5 and a 2. no problem. i have never worked with chocolate cake or carrot cake for shaping. Are they easy to work with????? The 2 will be carrot cake and the 5 chocolate. with whipped cream icing. I have only used white cake for shaping. Once i tried using yellow but it fell apart. the 5 and 2 will be on sheet cakes probably chocolate.

I think it will be fine but if you want the easy way out, you can get number shaped pans. Hope this helps!

yeah i have seem them but not in my area. I was checking them out online last night. My husband and dad work with aluminum and they are going to try to weld some cake rings, in the shape of numbers.

Susan,

I would freeze the cakes for about 30 min. That way they aren't totally frozen but they will be frozen enough for it to be easier to cut. I did that with a round pan. I made a white cake, cut it into the flower shape because I didn't have the flower pan. I froze it & it cut great! Didn't crumb or fall apart on me either. Try it! It will work~
