I have only been decorating for about 4 months now. I LOVE IT!!!!! Anyway, I have tried to Wilton Buttercream rec. - yuck! And, I have made the Buttercream Dream and Chocolate Buttercream Dream - love these. I have ready to try something else now. Which one would you suggest I try next? I want to sample as many as I can so I can get a good idea of the different flavors and textures. And, I love to eat cake! Thanks for any help. Tracy
i would try IMBC (italian meringue buttercream)
i love it and the taste/texture is way diff than what u have been trying
i LOVE LOVE LOVE the White as Snow Buttercream, I don't use anything else. I've tried lots, but this one is my favorite. ![]()
funny IMBC is mentioned. I just made it today for the first time and just finished posting about it in this section of the forum.
I won't repeat all that I wrote there, but I"ll just tell you I didn't like it AT ALL and I thought it was a real pain to make.
IMBC is a love hate thing.. the first time i made it I was like OH NO ( i had eaten it right out of the fridge.. mistake!) but now I wish everyone would want it.. its a matter of opinion and personal taste..
This is the recipe for making FBCT's on the Cake central site. Since using this for my transfers, I've pretty much used nothing else for my entire cakes! It is buttery, but not TOO, if you know what I mean. And....the longer you beat it, the whiter it gets, even with the three sticks of butter. I passed this tip on to a good friend of mine, (also a CC member) and her extended family and friends just rave about the taste. I've only had a few paid cakes, but everyone who tries it just loves it. It smoothes really nice using the Viva paper towel method, too. HTH.
I've been meaning to try a meringue based buttercream, but for now...this is my fave!

My faves (in order)
Sylvia Weinstock's IMBC (my hands-down fave, but I change it a bit)
's Decorator's BC (brides with a sweet tooth prefer this)
White as Snow BC from here (before I found Toba's recipe)
homecook, how do u change it?
