And I thought I had everything down just fine for next weekend's cake orders. One lovely girly flower themed cake, great, can make up flowers in advance, will save lots of time and be able to do cake and still have a social life on Friday night. And the other cake was supposed to be a lovely girly princess cake. Ooooooooh, no. Had calls from both clients yesterday. The birthday girl who was having the flower themed birthday now wants a Bratz Genie party. I was totally ??????? until I had a quick search on the internet and realised it is actually a Bratz movie called that.
The little girl who was having the princess cake is quite a character. She now wants a volcano spitting lava (!), but with a princess watching the volcano
. That is easy enough, told the mum to dig out a little pricess figurine which I can place on the cake. There are enough volcano cakes in the galleries to figure out that one.
But back to the Bratz Genie cake. I have spent hours on the internet trying to find a suitable image to use for a FBCT, but I cannot find anything. Ideally I need a colouring page. Can anybody help?? Or if you have any better idea for this cake I would appreciate some input. I don't really like character cakes, and particularly despise the Bratz, so if I can do a theme based on this but without having to reproduce their image, so much the better.
You probably already came across these, but I'll give it a try:

The last one is coloring pages specifically meant to download and print. Good Luck
Thank you Antylucifer for your links, but as you suspected I had seen those already. I spent a long time on Google last night trying to find something like a line drawing of the Genie Bratz. Is it just me, or is Bratz a bit grown up for 6 year olds? I totally admit to wanting my own kids to be babies forever but still, I just find the Bratz a bit disturbing.
Can anyone else help?
Can you do like a Bratz doll cake and decorate her clothing like the doll itself?
Bratz are hard to figure out !! Anything that have extra parts like feet that come off are just basically troublesome LOL

Maybe you can do the wonder mold doll pan, put on top of round or sheet cake. I would probably thin down the wonder mold part a bit to be thinner.
Decorate with the Genie ruffles.
Just a thought. HTH
Hi, well if youdont want to use an actual Bratz doll how bout making the flying carpet out of fondant on the board and making a genie bottle as the cake... you could decorate the board with gems etc... ummm trying to think or make a cake with these things all made of fondant on a bright coloured cake with the colours from the movie.
I have 2 daughters and one niece who are all into Bratz my niece had a bratz themed 5th bday party this year to which i made her cake and i used the doll cake tin with a bratz doll in it and coloured her clothes to match the decorations/ invites/paper plates etc...
Hope that all helps here is my version of the cake i did:
Thank you all for all your really useful ideas and tips. I feel a little more confident going back to birthday girl's mum with some suggestions. I think I am going to suggest doing a Bratz doll Wondermold cake, that way I can elaborate a little with fondant decorations. All the cakes you posted are wonderful and sure to be a good inspiration for me.
And thank you SugarPlumFairy for the sketch, I had to slap myself very hard on the forehead when I saw it. I never thought to run a picture through that software, I have it on my computer too. So thanks for the reminder!
I am glad it is not just me who find the Bratz a little creepy. I live on a small little island, my kids go to a very pc Montessori school - yet when you ask her what her favorite things are she'll say, pink, purple and make-up! ![]()
I don't really think she knows what make-up is, but she wants it.
I just find this whole trend of really "mature" pre-teens totally disturbing. Anyway, that is a whole other discussion, and I don't want to start another one of those really hot threads.
Thanks again for your help!
lol I have a daughter who is 24 and grew up with carebears, my lil ponies and strawberry shortcake so I had no idea what a bratz was till I read this post. But just the other day (I know this is off the topic but ...) I saw a woman in her 50's (the face always gives us away) wearing a belly top and hip hugger jeans and I thought what is going on here? Little kids want to look in their 20's and older women want to look in their 20's isnt any one just happy with being the age that they are? lmao I'm going to be 50 this june and I'm proud to have made it that far and I just dont get it.
[omg i totally agree about the bratz being overtly sexual (well dang that's all there is to it ain't it.) and people are allowing their little girls to emulate "hoochies"? I just don't get it.
