How do I mark a cake for a customer, so they can cut the right size pieces? I have a template sheet to make it for like a graduation cake, but they won't want those markes on their cake. Can I make small marks on the sides of the cake so they can follow that? Any ideas? Suggestions? Thanks all I know I can count on you!

Fondant or buttercream? For fondant you could pinprick the guide directly onto the top of the cake, buttercream I have no idea - sorry!

you can add a detail to the border, like a spot of color, a rosette, or some other icing mark to identify where to cut.

Hey, thats a good idea JoAnnB. It is to be an Ace of Spades, so i wasn't planning on a top border but on the bottom I could do something like that. Thanks to all, I knew I could count on you all.

Maybe draw out or copy a template on paper the same size as the cake and mark where the cuts would be. Similar to what Wilton shows on how to slice cakes.

If you do the drawing to the exact size of the cake it will have the correct number of lines and will guide them where to make the slices. Or you could just figure it out before hand and tell them to make X number of vertical slices and x number of horizontal slices.
Hope that helps.
