Wedding Cake ???

Iam doing a wedding cake for this weekend and i have a few ??I have to take the cake to Texas which is a 3 hour drive. So want to do as much as i can at home but ,i will be able to work on it when we get there as well. So i need to know just how much i can do now? and if i use the fondent can i do that now? the cake is for this Saturday bye the way. It will be just a simple wedding cake. I want to bake it tonight or in the morning and icie it as well. Will that work????

I would say you can do everything except stacking it. Go ahead and decorate it including placing any dowels you need in the cake. You can do everything except the border at the bottom of each tier.

Take all your tools you might need with you along with extra icing, fondant, etc.

Then all you have to do is assemble it once you get there and put a bottom border or ribbon or whatever.

Well I start baking on Thursday if cake is due Saturday. I would bake all tonight and frost tomorrow and yes you can put fondant on if you are using icing that doesn't need to be refridgerated. Good luck take lots of pics in different stages so if this turns out as a favorite you have a record of all of it.

I'll second CRP7. When I deliver a cake I do the same thing-wait til I get there to stack it, do the border and add any finishing touches. I always take extra icing, different tips, bags, spatulas, etc just in case. Drive safely!

Ok, I finley did it my first wedding cake. And with the help of all on CC ,I think it came out wonderfuly! Please tell me what you think. Im going to try and post it with this post ,but if i cant get it to work i will post it in the gallerie.

I saw them in the gallery first, commented in there, but just wanted to say what a great job you did! I love your borders and stringwork! no one would ever know it was your first wedding cake. And the little mice topper was too cute!!!
