Hi everyone, I post earlier today about whether or not to go ahead and ice the cake a second time cause the first crumb coat did not completely do the job. I'm still awaiting for a response from the first post. Well the class was alright, but I needed to vent and almost vent in class cause the teacher did not fully complete the class with students cause the time was running away and we have not complete the cake in lesson 2. We all have to figure out how to complete the cake for lesson 2. I think it is terrible for teacher to get pay for an in complete class. The teacher apologied but still that is not cutting it for the unfinished job and left it on our place to figure and complete things out. icon_cry.gificon_mad.gif I wish I knew to whom to express concerns about the class and how it is being handled. If any of you out there have experienced similar problems, feel free to express yourself, cause I feel like this, if I pay someone to conduct a class, then I can't see why there is a problem. The book has students make 1/2 medium consistency buttercream icing and which I did, but never got to use it in class and also brought supplies from home and maybe used two or three things. Was told to make 3 rosebuds, which I did while the rest of class made 4-10 rosebuds, I do not recall the teacher telling us to bring more than 3 rosebuds. Enough of venting, just let me know what your experiences were for course 3 & lesson 2. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

Oh my gosh, my experience with my classes was very frustrating! Ok, the class was supposed to be a two hour class, from 5-7, we were supposed to have everything prepared before we got there, have all our icing mixed up, etc.... well, i, and one other lady would get there on time, with all our stuff ready, then the other 4 would saunter in, and have NONE of their stuff together. Some of them would bring their mixer and be mixing up their icing at 5:30! So the instructor would sit there and blab about her health problems, her mother's boob job, her psycho cousins who were trying to ruin her wedding, her dad and step mom getting into a fight and having the police come to their house, etc.... Sometimes she would not start the instruction 'till 6:30!! Then our class would go over and the store would be closing, the manager would have to come in and tell us we needed to leave 'cause the store was closed.

I ended up learning everything I was supposed to, I guess, but I would have liked to have more time to practice and ask questions, etc... not to mention, I was very pregant at the time and I was SOO tired by the end of class from sitting there for more than 3 hours, that I couldn't even do my best work on my cakes. I would literally just pipe as fast as I could to get it done 'cause I was so ready to get home.

I always went home and complained to dh! I told him if I became an instructor my students would get way more out of the class than I did! I don't have any advice for you, but just wanted to share my story.

My instructor in course I was not that bad, but she did not seem like she knew how to do everything she was supposed to. She was never able to make a rose for us. We had people coming in late every class and she would always wait, which I don't get?!? My friend who took the class with me would call the next day and we would B***H about about the stuff she didn't show us that was in the book. Luckily we knew most of the stuff in course I, I skipped course II (same instructor) and am starting course III next week. I can do some of the stuff covered in the class, but most of all it is a different instructor. I am taking the classes to learn how to do things the right way instead of my way I taught myself and I feel we invest quite abit of money into these classes that we should get what we pay for.

I had the opposite problem...........my instructor would teach EVERYTHING in the book and be completely done within the first hour and end the class!!!! I felt like.......Hey lady!!! I paid 25 bucks for 2 hrs. for four days.....not 1 hr!!! Oh well...........Maybe i was just upset because it was my only chance to get out of the house and get a break from my 3 kids!!! LOL

We had a great instructor and class. We all (4 of us in the class) came prepared and ready to learn. We stayed the entire 2 hours and she taught everything that she was supposed to. I still have to work on my roses, but that just takes practice. icon_wink.gif
