Need Thoughts For Funeral Reception For A Child

How about an Angel Cake ? an Angel in the middle, looking like her, surrounded by white clouds, and white doves.
How sad ...
I am so sorry to here about the loss of another little angel. Our two year old little boy died suddenly on April 27th two years ago. My heart goes out to the family and they will be in my prayers. Everyones ideas are great. Just make sure you take pictures of them. The family may not be able to appreciate them very much at the time but in the years to come any picture or item that reminds them of their little girl will be treasured.
Well, I was so thrilled by all of your ideas, and very grateful for all of the support. This has been a truly horrific week, but here is what I did for them. Incorporated 6 doves and 6 ladybugs (kind of her signature) as angels were not available [living in central VT we have limited access to things...especially in 1 day timeframe]. They were very appreciative both for the light, airy feeling and colors, and for the ladybug. I feel blessed to have been able to contribute this to their reception - cupcakes with ladybugs, a ladybug cake, and a tiered (my first) with sparkling flowers, doves, butterflies, and ladybugs (adapted from the Wilton yearbook) -
Thank you , again for all of your suggestions and support. It was very helpful.
Tears are running down my face as I type this just from reading this whole thread. I am so incredibly sorry. I dont know what happened to her but I hope it was painless. I pray that God wraps His arms and angels around her and everyone that knew her. "If He brings you to it, He will bring you through it."
Your cakes turned out beautiful.
FunCakesVT,
I know this is late, but just saw the post and wanted to share my thoughts.........the cakes are beautiful and I'm sure she was watching from up above "smiling" at how pretty they all were...along with everyone else. You did a beautiful job!!
I am so sorry. I also have a 6 year old daughter and I could not imagine living without her. My prayers for her family, especially her parents, I hope that God grants them peace and acceptance that she is in a much better place than we are. God picked her to be an Angel to guide other little boys and girls here on Earth.
If this is any consulation, my daughter who now goes to CCD to prepare for her 1st Communion, told me last week after I picked her up from class, that she wanted to die. I told her not to say those things! She said, "Mommy, then I will be with God, I can't wait to see him." What do you answer to that? ?I said you are right, I can't wait till the day he also calls on me.
RIP.
Regards,
Naty
I cannot NOT reply to this post; I just want to say how sorry I am for your loss.
You have received many ideas for the cake(s) already, and I can't add any better idea. I'm sure you will put your whole heart and dedication into making this the best cake you've ever made...
Good luck and all the best to you and everyone who knew her,
Val from Holland
p.s. Only now I see the result of your work. It's beautiful, you did a wonderful job. Big hug
I would keep it simple and pretty the 6 cakes is a brilliant idea but each one soft pastel colours flowers daisies, smocking butterflies girly things bright forget it, keep it low profile simple and pretty. Thankfully we all have different ideas. Perhaps a photo of her on a cake sad I know but just an idea. Good luck anyhow....
