I just got on my puter & I found this message...

I tired closing it out & a box popped up saying..

Are you sure you want to close this dialog?

Reboot Required-partial
Does anyone know what this means? I have never seen something like this before. Could it be a virius? Oh boy! I hope not. I'd appreciate any help! Thanks!! ![]()
Thanks Doug! Ok... also in the box it says reboot or close.... Can I hit reboot & it all go away like some bad dream??? I haven't had a virius in a long, long time!! ![]()

I've left the box up because I don't know what to do ![]()

not sure..
conflicting advice on it
some said to delete the associated program (control panel - add/remove programs)
others said run virus protection.
I'd try close first -- and then reboot if it still doesn't go away.
and run your anti-virus software!
Thanks very much Doug! I guess I need to call my puter friend tomorrow & also have a cake ready for him. This is probably why my puter has been running slow for the past few days! Darn!! Thanks again~
If I knew how to mail a cake I would send you one Doug~
You going to the ICES convention? I could bring one with me ![]()
Well I turned my puter off & went to bed. Just turned it back on & it's gone soooooooo fingers crossed... hopefully it's gone for good! Thanks for your help Doug~
Do not count on it being gone. If you don't have McAffee or one of the others, go ahead and get it now and run the scan. (You can get it for about $40 on line) I had a similar one before and it kept popping up boobies in the middle of my typing. When working I type about 95wmp and I type with my eyes closed during interviews. It would get so distracting to realize I had lost half of an interview due to boobie shots. It took FOREVER to get rid of that thing because I have a home network and I had to go around Robin Hood's barn to wipe that bad boy out completely. Just be aware that it's probably still about hiding behind something tracking your computer activity.
Thank LanaC, I'm having my puter friend help me out tomorrow~ He'll do what I have no idea how to do LOL~ I need to take a class or something! ![]()
I got my virus when my computer genious husband was away. I had to learn double quick. Not only did I have to figure out the real world of computers, but I had to figure out the weird hookup my software company vice president husband left me with - not an easy task. I spent a sold week color coding wires so that it would be more "me friendly".
Just a little commercial here: Grisoft has an excellent free AV product. They also have a commercial version, but my dad is a VP at Grisoft (hence the commercial reference
) and he told me to install the free version and it's worked out really well for me!
The school district I work for as a computer tech uses AVG exclusively! It's wonderful....far superior to McAfee. I would strongly suggest running a scan with some anti-viral software. Viruses often change your registry keys (that's why they keep coming back).
I have links on my schools internet safety webpage for free resources and AVG is one of them. You can see them here....click the resources tab and scroll down....

JodieF-I'm glad to hear someone else likes the product as well as I do! I'll be sure to tell my dad when I see him tomorrow! (We're meeting up for a family trip to Disney---whoo-hoo!!!! )
Here is a direct link to the free version:

Thanks! I will tell my puter friend! He might already know about it~ Ohh have fun at Disney!!
Thanks to you too Jodi!
