I just wanted to share with y'all my first attempt at lace borders icon_smile.gif The picture is rather dark because I have a terrible camera but the cake looks better in person. I keep trying to do something new with each cake so I can continue to grow with my skills. Any and all comments or criticism is very welcome icon_biggrin.gif

Thanks for looking

Thank you. Yes I have to teach myself because I work nights and every other weekend. So I can't take lessons icon_sad.gif

Your cake looks pretty and soooo yummy! The contrast of the white lace on the chocolate is outstanding.
HAPPY EASTER TO YOU ALL

Sooooo pretty. Great job!!! Is it royal icing? How are you learning this, from a book. I'd love to try this - very elegant look!!!

I just looked at your other chocolate cakes and they are beautiful! What recipe do your use for the icing? The chocolate looks so shiny and sharp on all of them. Mine always looks dull and crusty. Will you share your recipe? Thanks!

I got a mat similar to this but haven't used it. After seeing your beautiful cake mine is coming out of its hiding place and getting used. Did you use royal icing for this?

I forgot to mention in the recipe that I also add about 1 cup of confectioners sugar to get the consistency I need. Also, the longer you let it sit, the thicker it will get icon_smile.gif

Hope you enjoy it icon_biggrin.gif

Yes I used royal icing. I created the little heart on my computer and then printed a page full of them. Then I piped over the print out on wax paper.
