Nto sure of the 'dough' recipe, but if it is marshmallows and powdered sugar, the dough is considered fondant. The MMF and other home made fondants are very similar. MMF is known to taste pretty good.
There are many posts about MMF with hints and solutions for problems.
I looked at the recipe on Womans Day that you were referring to and I would say it is a simplified version of the MMF (marshmallow fondant) from this web site. MMF is just taking a bag of mm and melting them with a little water and stirring in powder/confectioners sugar. With using the marshmallow puff, you simply skip the melting step
. There are also recipes for "traditional" fondant. Some are easy, however they still require many more steps than MMF does to create. Many people also believe that MMF tasted better. You can also buy pre-made fondant (which I believe many of the professional bakers do). I know that Satin Ice is one of the most popular ones. I would also say by popular vote that you should stay away from Wiltons fondant, because although it is easy to work with, it tastes just awful.
I make MMF all of the time and love it. It took just a little while to get the hang of it, but it's a cinch now..... Good luck and let us know what you end up using ![]()
