I didn't take the original post as bad at all. When you are carving cakes it really doesn't matter if the cake is straight... that's why you can piece stuff here and there and icing covers it all up. I think the poster was simply relieved that as long as the final product looks good we don't have to stress so much about how we get there.

I've noticed on several chat places that (some) professionals who are members of them seem to have quick anger. I was a part of a dog breed list for awhile and it didn't take much to get one of the professionals mad that you did something wrong with your breed. I guess the cake world is similar...it doesn't take much to get the professionals upset.... but really it doesn't have to be that way. thumbs_up.gif We were all newbies once... and we all have things we don't like, whether its Wilton tools or certain edible image printers or tv shows... and as long as its just a gentle discussion there doesn't need to be such anger IMO. I know some here might be able to go a whole day or even a week without thinking something negative about the guy driving in the car ahead of us or the customer who emailed all day long about cake....but I'm not that good. icon_cool.gif

I never thought she was being rude. I thought you were being rude as you normally are. You have this way about everything you say that screams "I'm better then you so you should back down when I speak" and I don't think that's right for anyone to act like they are better then someone else.

Anyway yes she did clear it up that she wasn't implying anything rude by her post I just thought I should point out that you were being a rude person. So yeah now we can drop it.

I didn't even read all of the posts on this thread, because just skimming through, some were getting a little "irritable". Anyway, I do have to say though that Duff is the man and whatever he's doing is working for him and his personality is just so refreshing. He's not too serious and likes to have fun and likes for his staff to have fun. Do you think anyone else would let them air on live t.v. him falling off a scaffold and getting knocked out? He's got the greatest sence of humor, his techniques are not perfect, but in the end, he's amazing just like alot of us! Not perfect, but amazing.
Happy baking all!

The original poster and I have exchanged PMs about this whole thread.

If I am so rude and think I'm better than everyone else...why would I post hundreds of photos on here, do how-to's and articles using my personal recipes, respond to dozens of PM's each day asking questions?

I'm not leaving this site because of you, I'll tell you that. You are constantly in these locked threads. You just love the drama.

I haven't posted in any thread until this one in months! Get it straight lady. I'm not trying to get you to leave I'm trying to knock you off your high horse. I don't plan on leaving here either I love CC, everything about it is great. No I don't love drama I actually hate it but I also hate being talked down to like I'm a child or like you're better then me.

Anyway this was about Duff's new site.... I think it's a great site and I think it's great that he can take a cake that isn't 100% perfectly flat and make such a great thing out of it. Makes me wish I had those kinds of skills icon_wink.gif Keep up the good work Duff and your Staff icon_smile.gif

Everyone needs to step back and take a deep breath.
Breath in with the good, out with the bad.
I'm sure that if Duff thought the OP comment was rude, and if he is a member of this forum or someone from his shop watches CC I'm sure they would have stepped in and said something, or they would already by PMing her.
With that said, let's get back to the real reason this thread was started, and if you cannot do that, then let's just drop the subject.

WOW icon_eek.gificon_surprised.gif ...I read the original post and maybe I'm being pro nice (although, I choose to wake up on the right side of the bed more, no matter the weather) but I didn't think that the original poster was bashing Duff. I absolutely LOVE him, all the way down to his laugh. It makes me laugh. Now what really tickles me, is that with everything else that is so rudely wrong, going on right now in this world, that grown people come here to bicker about cakes. It really is such a sweet subject. LOL. Sure, we all have freedom of speech but is it really necessary to jump down someone's throat that isn't directly speaking about you? And wow, one poster is jumping all over everyone in here. My point, I do find it comforting that some people have less than perfect days or cakes such as myself and find a way to recover from it. He allows this to be shown 2 to 3 times a week in my state...so why not show others. He points out the obvious, even calls it caketrastrophy and he's a very, well-known established cake designer/artist. How many people do you know will even be willing to show a whopped cake on the air....to millions. People have their own opinions but I really feel the original poster is being unfairly jumped on especially when they aren't the "whole" that's been on here supposedly bashing Duff. Was it just one comment too many about Duff/Ace of Cakes that sent these offended people over the edge?? My goodness, there's plenty of other causes that need that type of rallying than the "Save a Duff Reputation" group. Hmmmm, just my opinion though.
I shall wait on the wrath icon_evil.gif

I think this is starting to go overboard. At this point I don't think this has to do with Duff anymore. People are just taking the opportunity disrespect other members because of personal issues. There is enought cake orders out there for everyone. If you don't like someones behaviour in the forum either PM them or ignore it. If you continue and respond to it I think that is being hipocritical.

Here is my little bity ole opinion...Because I am not by any means any more then a mediocre home cake decorator. I look at all of your cakes everyday..I read all of your opinions on how to do things that you all are experts at. I take all of this to heart. Some of us listen and do exactly how you say to do things. I HOPE to the good Lord that everybody has a bad cake day because that means they are human. And I am so impressed that a lot of you will post your "catastrophes" (in your opinions icon_wink.gif ), just goes to show that we all mess up, we all have bad days, and we all are supposed to help one another get through the bad days. I hope this is just a bad day for the posters that are arguing. Because I looked at all of your cakes more than a hundred times since I have been on CC and I look up to you!!! And I think you all have TREMENDOUS talent....just like Duff...but even look up to you all more than someone on television..because you help US...you respond to our posts and take your time out for little people like me. Please show your true colors in your personalities cause I just know that you all MUST be as wonderful a person as cake decorators!!! With that said THANK YOU ALL FOR POSTING YOUR BEAUTIFUL PICTURES AND YOUR HELP icon_smile.gif

Hey, I am only reading this thread because the man with the knife standing next to me is making me! icon_razz.gif I don't wanna get stabbed. I love all of ya... the good, the bad, and the ugly! I don't care what anyone says to me anymore. I am a nice person, but I sometimes have an ugly temper when people attack me... but I'm just ready to say 'scrap it' and let cranky people abuse me if it makes them feel good. I am just going to be niiiiiiice and silly willy dilly anyway!! icon_razz.gificon_razz.gificon_razz.gif Love you all!! And I've heard Duff is a great guy, I have heard so many nice things about him! I'm amazed by some of the stuff I seem them (as we must give the co-workers credit too) do! I think that new interactive site is awesome as well. I don't expect perfection in anyone in this world. I know wherein it lies. One thing I don't like is to have my comments corrected bt the teacher with a red pencil, like I was back in grade school. Noone likes that. That's what I think happens here sometimes. Someone makes a comment and someone else hops on it and off it goes. Straight off into left field so far you can actually forget what you were talking about in the first place. What Duff and his crew do works well for them. Noone claimed perfection least of all Duff himself. He's fun and he's real good at bringing his visions to "life". I resepct that, as I do in every other creative cake person I know of. This is a great place to come, but let's keep the peace please. Squabbling gets us absolutely nowhere, especially on the internet.

Lighten up people. Let's act like nice grown-ups.

I do think that people have been on Duff and his gang now for a while. Like the thread where someone said that Mary was Puffing the majic dragon as she was logged onto this board.

I look at cakes all the time and think of ten things I would have done but do I tell people and hurt there feelings????

I think that when one in the limelight it is easy for people to examine them under a microscope. Such as CP on Food Network cakes. Bashing her and then having decorators like Marina Sousa pop on here to defend her. Then we have a whole lot of back peddling from others.

Why bother???

I think that when controversial posts like these come up it's important to read posts carefully and digest EVERYTHING that is being said before jumping up and down on ppl.
If I read everything correctly, the original poster, CHANGED the original comment she had made once Antonia74 posted a reply on what she was saying. The post as is, may not be rude, but let's consider that it has been edited. Even the original poster has said that she edited. So I think that no-one, unless you have a copy of the original post, can say that Antonia 74 is being rude, we dont know what was originally said.

In my own humble opinon I think a lot of people need to be not knocked off but climb down off there high horse this is just insane do we have nothing better to do with our time than judge each other I had no intention on posting in here I hoped like im sure a lot of us did that it would die a quick and natural death but since it keeps being brought to the top of the boards with negativity despite several attempts by people to lighten up the mood I thought what the heck what is this sight comming to that someone cannot post that they are impressed by duffs abilty to cover up mistakes without people getting into an argument over what she meant by that. ok Im not even sure why im getting involed in this it might just be the pain meds talking or the fact that I feel sorry for the orginal poster and at the same time praise her for not lashing back at people but I for one want to join the silly willy nilly club and think everyone else should to.
