My cakes just go to waste, everyone has a couple of pieces, but we're never able to finish a cake before it starts tasting stale. There's only three of us (who can eat cake) in my immediate family. For Easter I made a bunny cake my parents came over for dinner and we all had cake, my parents even took some home. But almost a week later we've only managed to eat the bow tie and both ears, there's still the whole head leftover! Who eat's your practice cakes?

I take them in to work or send them to work with my husband He is a fireman - the guys will eat ANYTHING, especially home made baked goods, even if it is a half eaten cake - no kidding. Even at my regular old office job, we laugh because FREE food ALWAYS disappears fast!

They don't get eaten at my house, either.

I practise on a Saturday so I can take my cakes to church luncheons the next day! I never bring any leftovers home!

Nobody. Cake isn't food in my house. It's canvas. I take a picture then pitch it.

Im a medic on the streets, and I can tell you take your cakes to:
fire stations
ems stations
police stations we run alot and sometimes we dont have time for eating and a fast charge up helps us.
also:
churches, schools (teachers lounge), nursing homes (check with nurse station first).
Its also another way to advertise by word of mouth..take them even to a SOUP KITCHEN!!!!

When I took my Wilton Course 1, I would leave it for the Michael's staff. Now at home when I practice my 16yr old son eats it before it gets stale. thumbs_up.gif He eats healthy food too but he won't let my cakes "go to waste" icon_lol.gif

Okay, well I'm a stay at home mom, so I don't have an office to go too. My DH only works with one other guy, so that won't work either. No teenage sons, I have a five year old and a six month old. I will try 2txmedics ideas, hopefully someone will take my cakes!

fragglerock1,
You could always put the cake part in the freezer and save it for cake balls!!!!

I like to give my practice cakes to friends, neighbors and family. I have alot of family close by so it never goes to waste. I love the idea of giving it to ems, fire and police departments, churches etc. What a great idea!

My husbands work has a "dessert day" planned each week, when they all know that I make all of my recipes and the extra goes with him the folowing morning. This has been a ritual for months now. Then I laugh because I always here about how "chubby" everyone seems to be getting and none of them seem to know why...LOL

Mine get sent into work with hubby, but another suggestion is your local battered women's shelter. It must be bad enough to be in the situation where you have to take your kids and go to a shelter, but I'm sure some of those kids are spending their birthday in a shelter. It doens't have to be anyone's birthday for them to enjoy a fun cake.

We plan to make this our charity of choice this year.

My husband and some friends usually help. If there is too much cake then I package pieces in tupperware and freeze them and we thaw them when we are ready for more. Sometimes we don't even wait to defrost before eating icon_smile.gif.

I send cakes to work with my DH, give them to my daughter to take to work with her or bring them to my job. There are over 200 people on my floor alone, it won't last long if I bring it to my work.
