KHalstead, I'm with you. Pull out everything then put away after use. I forgot the oil once in a cake for family and really didn't notice a difference. The thing was eaten so fast noone scrutinized it much. Guess it was good enough.

I'm the same with clean up. I throw stuff into hot soapy water or the dishwasher after use to minimize the mess and clutter and save on clean-up time later. I never go to bed with a mess to face in the morning. I've run from the house during the day leaving some mess behind but not for long. Can't stand to see it once the cake is gone.

I left something out of a cake just this week! I caught my mistake in enough time to be able to pull the batter out of the oven, add the ingredient, and put it back in. It happens to the best of us! icon_razz.gif

Ditto! However, I must say that I was two eggs short on a doubled cake recipe last week....and too lazy to go to the store to buy more eggs, so I made it anyhow! It turned out great!

i found that if you dont use the proper amout of eggs, the cakes tends to be a different texture and not hold together as well.
ive been one short and dont notice a difference but not 2.

I was making dinner, a mushroom, nut, and cheese loaf, and had just got it into the pan with the help of my boyfriend when I went to get an oven mit and saw the eggs sitting next to it. I was like, "Gee, no wonder it seemed so dry this time"-it normally needs 4 eggs! So I put it all back in the bowl, mixed in the eggs, and then had to call my boyfriend back to help me get it in the pan again. He had a good laugh at me, but at least dinner was saved.

So I feel your pain!

I forgot the baking soda once... boy was that a flat cake. Now, I'm doing what my mother taught me, put all the ingredients out on the table, put them away after use and if the table is empty when you go to put the cake in the oven, you've gotten everything in the mix icon_biggrin.gif
