Choc. Cake W/ Raspberry Filling Question

OK, I just can't stand it anymore, I have to make a cake!! Even though I have a baby shower cake to make for tomorrow, I really want to make a cake for me ![]()
I have read several times about chocolate cakes with raspberry fillings. Yummmmm This is what I want to make!!! Here are my questions:
1. The only cake mix I have right now is a DH German Choc. Is there anything I can add to this to make it better, or will it taste alright as is with a raspberry filling?
2. I was planning on making a chocolate buttercream for this cake. Do you think it will taste alright if I mix the raspberry jam with the Choc. BC for the filling???
I think I am thinking too much on this!!!

In my opinion (smiling) the german choc cake will be fine. DH is my favorite mix. For the rasberry, you will get a better flavor impact if you put the jam in between the layers. Somehow, when you blend the jam and the buttercream together, the flavor is good, but much less.
If you add jam to buttercream, it tends to soften it, so decorations are limited.
With chocolate and raspberry, you can't go wrong whichever you choose.

But I have been craving this combo since first reading about it on here!! So I am going to give it a try, and maybe send some with my DH to work (taste test) and maybe to my mom and dad. See what they think.
