HI all,
A GOOD friend of mine asked me to do her wedding cake...ok great. The hard part is I just want to charge her for ingredients only. My time will be my gift to her. The cake will be for 250 people. What do I charge? If you could give me a range half buttercream half fondant. Thanks for your help guys!!! SW

That is quite a lot of cake. Then you will have costs for boards, a base, supports. It will also depend on whether you make the fondant or buy it.

I would guess the barest minimum would be $100 or more.

I suggest going to the Wilton site - they have a chart there that tells you how much batter/icing for each size pan. Most recipes (and I believe mixes too?) yield about 6 cups of batter. But you should measure as they can vary by a cup. THis should give you an idea of how much the ingredients will cost you. You also have to figure the cost of filling. I've seen a fondant chart somewhere also - it might have been cakesbysam.com?
