Initials On Cakes

What is the best way to put an initial on a cake for like a wedding shower or a grooms cake. They want on on the 6 inch layer of a stacked cake. I was wondering if anyone has done this? Did you pipe it with a shell? or another tube or do a flipped buttercream?
I'm open for any suggestions

Yes, they want a monogram. Only on the top of the 6" layer of a stacked cake.

how fun! you can do a FBCT or pipe candymelts of the initials on to parchment then place on, you can order initials.... what did you have in mind?

I like to paint with food gels! If it's on fondant.

I use buttercream and do them right on the cake.

Find a font you like and print it off the size you want. Then, use that as a template to cut the letters out of gumpaste or fondant. Let them dry hard, then paint with luster dust mixed with alcohol.

how about a chocolate plaque then pipe the monogram on and paint it with a shimmer dust?

On the square offset tiers in my pix I did the monogram as an edible image, then pressed it against the side of the cake and trimmed it with dragees. It looked really nice and crisp!

Here's another idea for you - like the Wilton lettering but using crystals.

Enlarge the initials and print. Bend 2 wires together to make the intial and glue beautiful colored crystals to the face of the wire.

Hi sbshivers, FBCT means Frozen ButterCream Transfer.

That crystal monogram is amazing! I love it!! Your talent simply leaps off the pages of your site! I just wish I had adventurous people in my neck of the woods... they all want the same old boring stuff. icon_wink.gif I guess I'll have to start pushing for some more fun stuff!
