A bride I'm doing a cake for (for free since she's a friend) is now NOT having the stand made she was going to for her wedding next Tuesday, so we have to rethink the presentation of the cakes. I've only stacked a couple of cakes, and I'm thinking that it will be easier to stack and later separate the layers if I use some of the Wilton pillars between the layers - am I mistaken? There are 3 square cakes of decreasing sizes in the mix. I don't really want to go buy a new cake stand, and the one I have really won't work, so I'm looking for some other options that will be easy, cause, hey, it's the last minute and I'm doing it for free, but I still want it to look nice.

i'm a little confused... stack and seperate later???? once you dowel and stack that's it... don't seperate or you have indentations and holes. I would stack them or ask your friend to pick up some disposable pillars and plates.
