Hey, everyone, I've been asked to use my cake creativity for my 10 yr high school reunion, but I can't think of anything creative. Our mascot is the Pirates and like I said, it's our 10 yr reunion and it needs to serve around 140 ppl. Any ideas are so greatly appreciated, you are all geniouses!

Thank you so much,
julitre1

140 servings? Yeesh. That's a big cake!

I'd do a full sheet cake. You could add a smaller round layer on top, for extra cake, with a FBCT of your school mascot/figure on it. For some reason I'm thinking a full sheet should serve about 100 people? (I don't remember off the top of my head and it's not a size I make very often).

If you go with the full sheet it is going to weigh a ton by itself. So whatever you add to it, assemble it there.

Trim it out in your school colors.

The other thought I had was two cakes - one chocolate, one yellow. Then you have a little bit more leeway on the decorating and can make them similar but a little different, and everyone is happy with flavors.

What was in style 10 years ago? You could put song titles on CDs or whatever else was popular when you were in H.S.

How about a sheet cake with a pirate ship on top? Carved and maybe attacking the old HS rivals?

That is exactly where I was going with that! A 3-D pirate ship and you could have a fondant model of your #1 rival team's mascot walking the plank! And this could be done on top of a large sheet cake as already mentioned so that there will be enough cake! The large sheet cake could be frosted in choppy blue BC to look like water, or you could marble some different shades of blue fondant if you want to use that. This cake could be a TON of fun!! Good luck and let us know how it goes!

The pirate ship Idea is great depending on how big you make it, if you need more cake, you could do a year book with some some replication of 2 of the main pages or if there was a class picture of some kind have that printed and place on it.
Or just do a closed year book like the outside with the logo and all. The book could be sitting on top of a desk (single layer 1/2 sheet cake) maybe a desk with some carvings on it like ok some of us used to have when we gratuated 22 or mor years ago! Ok dating myself. You could add like CD's and more sitting next to the book.

I like the priate ship idea with the plank too.

What was the theme from your prom? Maybe you could do side cakes with that.

Okay, it's questions like this that really show off just how "newbie" I am, but this is why I LOVE this website, I learn so much.

What is the method of FBCT... I know that it is frozen buttercream transfer method, but how do I do it? icon_redface.gif

Thank you so much, that is awesome! I can't decide between the yearbook cake, the pirate ship, and the popular things, so I may do all three since it needs to feed 140 ppl.............I'll keep everyone posted!

I copied the cover of a yearbook for a reunion cake once. It was easy. But, I had done it for free because it was my own reunion! So, I wanted to keep it simple.
