They are wonderful, but they're made from polymer clay -- not edible at all. icon_smile.gif Check out this site, and the artist's site, WOW!

Thanks KelleyM.... I wonder why they call them marzipan when they are not? Thanks for the site info! They are still pretty amazing. A friend e-mailed them to me and I had no idea the source. Ahhh an urban legend. Maybe I should delete?

Who knows how it got started -- maybe somebody was just mistaken and it spread like wildfire. I think it's more "awe-inspiring" to some people if they're made of marzipan and not more mundane material. (Even a lady at my church came up to me, telling me about the marzipan babies!) I think they're pretty darned awe-inspiring anyway.

You're right... they are beautiful whatever they are made from. Some of the people on here do some pretty beautiful stuff with gumpaste and fondant. Probably could do close to this....

I check almost everything on snopes.com, I send my friends to it all the time too, it really cuts down on the amount of bad e-mail me and many of my friends get.

Thanks for checking kelleym.

Good Luck.

I like working with Fondant. It's like working with clay... just a little stickier than Polymer Clay. I cannot wait to play with marzipan. I'm sure someone will come put with their versions of the babies one day and post a picture...

There is something kind of creepy about eating a baby.... some have done some beautiful baby cakes and gotten comments about how beautiful they are but folks say they would have trouble eating them. It's not an insult...they are beautiful. If I could make anything close to this good I would just use as a decoration.
