I AM NEW AT THIS AND WANT TO TRY AND MAKE FLOWERS, DESIGNS ON MY UPCOMING CAKES. CAN I USE REGULAR ICING FOR THIS OR DO I NEED TO USE SOMETHING LIKE ROYAL ICING. I REALLY WANT THE DECORATIONS TO BE EDIBLE AND NOT HARD. LOOK FORWARD TO HEARING. THANK YOU!
you can make flowers with regular icing depending on what kind of flower you want. just use a stiff icing so the flowers hold their shape.

Hi Debbie...what kind of flowers are you thinking of making? You could use candy clay for some or buttercream...
I wanted to start with simply flowers - roses look so hard to make.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Debbie
i made roses with mmf... it's the only thing i CAN make... i can't get any other flower to look right using this stuff... and i have no talent whatsoever using bc or any kind of icing
thats funny I can do most flower except the drop flower I think it becuse I'm left handed and I haven't learned the lily nails flowers try the wild rose in bc it is real easy!
I also am lefthanded, I wonder if this has something to do with the fact that I am not too adept at the flowers myself. If anyone has any leftie tips or tricks to help out, please let me know! Also I have tons of books on making flowers is there any one that someone knows is tried and true..or just a very good one?
