Hi,

Has anyone know more about this butter shortening? Would it make a difference if I use this one instead of regular shortnening?

Let me know please. Thanks.

Skip the "butter" flavored shortening. As indydebi said, I used it once.

plus, it's almost bright yellow-it would totally change color of icing if that's what you want to use it for. I have one recipe that actually calls for BFC and I love it, but other than that, it sits on my shelf.

Also, if using it for icing it could affect your coloring as they use a yellow dye to get the "butter" color. So, your blue icing would have more of a green tinge, etc.

I had to use it one, was making series of anniversary cake and the Bride is allergic to a lot of items, she wanted something buttery and I could not use extracts. She could handle Crisco Butter Shortening. The cake looked beige and it tasted ok, I also added lemon juice, vanilla and almond Gluten Free Extracts to break up the taste.
They really liked the cake, the flowers were terrible, but they liked the cake because it was good. (I took me 8 hours to bake all the cakes, since I had to make the 8"round cake 4 times over It kept on flopping those Gluten Free cakes. I layer came out perfect the other one didn't I tried it again, next 2 flopped, then next 2 flopped, the again! My DH and kids came home and I was devatated, I had the 1/2 sheet and 1/4 sheet done perfect but that little guys just would not. I made a simple GF White cake with Lemon juice & zest and it worked. The I stacked and decorated. I started a 7 in the morning and went until 3 am to finish my decorating. I just baked for 6 1/2 hours more than I anticipated. What a night.
If you check out my pics, the cake is white with yellow RI flowers, they needed some work, I have since graduated to make nicer flowers!
Anyhow, all this to say, the cake does not have to look perfect, it just has to be good.
I be making a graduation cake for later in June.

To all a good night! Thanks for this site. I love it.
