I am stacking a 10'' square on a 14'' square cake. Do I need to put the 10" on a board for serving purposes? Should I use a dowel? icon_confused.gif

the cake will better supported with a board and at least 3 dowels. In this case straws or skewers would work. It also makes removing the 10" easier for serving.

My instructor told me 6 support dowels for a 10-inch cake. I might even add a 7th in the middle. I'm still cautious when it comes to stacking!
