I have been ask to make a cake for my supervisor at work and he likes banana cake, I want to use butter cream frosting but I was wondering if I can use banana flavoring instead of vanilla flavoring to make my butter cream icing taste like banana icing. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. irisinbloom

I've never made banana BC but it sounds really good...I'd love it on a chocolate fudge cake too! You can replace the vanilla with any kind of flavoring you like so I think banana would be a great flavor to add to buttercream icing.

I add coconut, orange, rum to my BCI & it always tastes great! I would try the banana! Just test it in a small amount. I bet it will be really good!

Your idea would work just fine. On my banana cake, I use a cream cheese icing, with banana extract and a bit of golden yellow gel paste.
