ATARI!! woww i remember alot of hairspray!!! ![]()
I know it's a year ahead of time, but there was a song that hit #1 on the day my youngest daughter was born and she says it's still her theme song:
I Will Survive, by Gloria Gaynor
Just a little bit of reminiscing here - Thanks!
Fraggle Rock, Cabbage Patch Kids, My Little Pony, Lite-Brites, Care Bears, Smurfs, ET, Pac Man, Ms. Pac Man, Frogger, Mr. Rogers, Electric Company, Cookie Monster, leg warmers, hair crimpers, the hairstyle with the bangs hairsprayed to stand straight up, friendship bracelets, etc.................
OKay, I haven't read all the details. But trust me if it's for a girl Jem and the Holograms is a must!!!
If for some strange reason she wasn't into Jem, there's Rainbow Brite, My Little Pony and the ORIGINAL Strawberry Shortcake.
(Yeah, I'm a kid from the era! )
I was a teenager in the eighties... I don't really remember the whole era... but I keep thinking of a round cake with a vinyl record on top. The label could be something like 'Madonna - Like a Virgin'. Not sure how or if that would be appropriate - humor can be a subjective thing.
I have 19 and 21yr old boys and they think vinyl is old fashioned. I couldn't believe it when they had no idea what I meant when I mentioned the truckers CB's (breaker, breaker ...), they only got it when I said it was an old fashioned car phone! Yeesh ...
feeling a little old. They were also amazed when I took the electric typewriter out of the closet - funny how you don't realize some of the things they never grew up with.
Now my 4yr old daughter can work the computer better than her Grandparents - can't imagine what kind of technology the future holds for the little ones!
Were lava lamps and blue lights still hot in the eighties - I remember listening to records with the blue light posters. (?) I also remember the jeans were worn so tight you had to lay on the bed to get them done up - both girls and guys! LOL - what an image that is now!! Those 'zipper' jeans were in (the zipper ran from the front right up and around to the back) - safety pins all over ripped up clothes was big - punk rock hit the scenes in the early eighties didn't it? Sid Vicous or someone (? - I was rock) Oh yeah, Billy Idol and his White Wedding....
For pete's sakes, I need to get a life ... I guess it pretty much depends what your girl is into now, take your cue from that and work backwards. Be sure to let us know what you decide!
