I have a wedding shower this weekend and the bride's theme is beach. She wants cake sqaures with white chocolate seashells on each square. I have the plastic shell forms for the seashells, but my question is can mint flavor be added to the chocolate so that she could use them as mints? There will be way more left over than we need, so I thought I would do this for her.

Have any of you ever did this? Any advise will be appreciated.

Thanks!

Wanda

Wilton sells a "creme de menthe" candy flavor. It comes in a set with other candy flavors. Here's the link:

I'm not sure if it's safe to add to tempered chocolate, if that's what you're using. But I'm sure if you're just using the Wilton chocolate candy melts it would be fine.

I did this for a wedding once. I started out with the mint flavored candy melts and ran out, so I added a tiny bit of peppermint extract to the vanilla flavored melts and it was fine. icon_smile.gif

You need to be sure that the flavoring you add is oil based. However, if you add it and the chocolate seizes, just add a bit of crisco or parmount crystals. Let it cool and start over without adding any more flavor.
