I am in trouble here! I am doing a cake for my grandma and the colour scheme was supposed to be yellow and purple. I got yellow all right! Canary yellow!

I did the fondant last night and the light in our house is not very good. I guess I added a little too much yellow icon_sad.gif

Is there ANYTHING I can do to lighten it up or at least try and cover some of it?

I will be writing in purple Happy Birthday Grandma to the right of the flower arreangement

The colours in my flowers are a lighter purple and yellow.

I am so disappointed icon_sad.gif

do you have any super pearl to brush on it- it will look a little lightter and throw the light - i cant think of anything else since it is allready applied

if it wasnt on i would say knead in a small amount of purple or super white ... good luck

The only thing I can think of is white writing, and maybe "swiss dots" in white on the sides. Great job on the cake already!

I wonder if white cornilli lace would calm the yellow down. It would also be very nice delicate touch for a grandma.

do you have an airbrush? Maybe you could undo the ribbon and then spray.

As with coloring any other icing, it is best to color it the day before and allow the color to develop. Did you do this, or make it and apply it right away. It may be that the color developed further overnight.

Tha.k you everybody! I did what I could with the cake...and here was the result. My Grandma loved it and that is what matters... icon_smile.gif

And thanks for the tip to colour fondant a day ahead...I will definitely do that next time.

Great job!

There is such a difference in the two cakes! I really think the lacing you put on there helped mellow the color down too!

Wow ~ I can not believe what a difference the cornelli lace made. That was a great suggestion from Newtodecorating!!! It actually brings out the yellow in the flowers rather than overpowering them. Great Job!!!
