Cake Cardboards Covered Or Not?

Ok this is a dumb question, but I got to thinking...
I've always wrapped my cake boards, under each tier, with fancifoil for any stacked or pillared wedding cakes, and had no problems.
Then I heard that if they cut the cake and get bits of fancifoil in the cake, it can cause problems, especially for anyone with fillings in their teeth who might bite down on a piece of foil (never heard of that happening, but still...)
I can't imagine leaving plain uncovered cardboard circles under stacked tiers, because they look gross and get all gooshy and grease-stained anyway, so I recently switched to logicpic foam core cake circles, and I love them, but I don't have any in stock, so my next cake is going to be on hidden pillars and Crystal look plates, and I'll have to use cardboards again, but I got to thinking...
What do you guys do, if you use cardboards under the tiers?
I *should* just make sure I have logicpic boards in, and then this wouldn't be an issue... ![]()
I like to use Freezer wrap, the white stuff, keeping the shiny side on the outside. HTH
I was just wondering about this today and posted a question too. That thread was about contact paper - I got mixed opinions. Some said it was great some said it smelled funny...
if it is going between layers I use Press-N-Seal. If not and just need it covered I use contact paper.
