So I just finished my second batch EVER of cookies!! (in pics) and I did the details on the bunny in black RI. It turned out very shaky...is this something that will just get better with practice? Maybe my icing was too thick...? Otherwise I'm happy with the way they turned out- I'm sure my family will love them. They better! icon_biggrin.gif

I can't see what you're talking about! Those look very nice! You're just an example of how we are our own worst critic! thumbs_up.gif

Well there Sarah for your second batch of cookie EVER, they are pretty spectacular! I'm very impressed. and I think your bunny is cute.

To your question: practice makes perfect. Since you have a natural gift, it won't take you to long before you are knocking out perfect piping!

You say you are new at cookie decorating, so I'm guessing that you moved too slowly. I find if I go just a little faster the lines seem to smooth out.

I think your cookies look great. I don't have any advice, but how did you make your flowers fade to a lighter color?

Thanks! The RBC was the lighter color (pink/purple), and then once it dried I painted a little gel coloring on it (thinned with vodka).

I think they look great. I just posted a bunny picture that I used the Wilton food marker on (for the black part). I had made the black details in my first batch using RI and was frustrated w/my piping (and some of them came off when I bagged them). I would recommend the marker for anyone who hasn't tried it...

Ok, I can see which part you are talking about, but remember this... it looks fifty times worse to you than to anyone else! I think they are fantastic cookies! I agree with two things... practice and speed. If you go too slow you will get shakier looking lines. So, if you keep working on it and speed up just a touch, you are going to have perfect cookies! They look fantastic anyway!!

allied- your bunnies are vey cute! I've heard from a lot of people that the markers won't work on RBC because it's way too greasy...but if I ever do a background with RI, I'll definitely give them a try. Thanks!

First....your cookies look wonderful! And, I must agree with everyone else, speed and practice will improve/reduce the shakiness....although if your royal is on the thicker side this could contribute to shaky lines! Great job!
