My friend's wedding is coming up and I am doing her wedding cake. She's been thinking about a really simple, white fondant covered three tiered cake with ribbon around the edges(I'm sure you've all seen one). My question is, is it easier to make a somewhat flashier cake than a very simple one, because of all the room for error?

in a lot of ways I think so only because there are more distractions to draw your eye away from the imperfections - a well placed flower can hide a lot !!

Plain is hard to do.. I like flowers! But you can still keep it simple.

I think since your working with fondant, simple is going to be nice. Plus the ribbon on the bottom will hide all the little mistakes! For a friend, simple is good so you can enjoy or help with other parts of the wedding without stressing our so much over the cake! It takes a lot of work to make even a simple cake! I really like your idea!!!
