Hi everyone,

does anyone have any ideas or tips on how to make a calla lilly. I would rather make one, than to buy silk one and put on the cake. I've never done this flower before.

Thanks!

Hi! Im making my first wedding cake rigth now, and browsing here in cc the bride fell in love with a calla lilly cake, and im making the these flowers now.

Im following the instrucctions of a book, and using a rose cutter, the one thaqt you make each petal separate, just pm me if you need the instructions, they are more easy than the ones on the tutorials here on cc.

Need to make the stamen first let it dry then wrap the petal around see attatchment, very easy smoothe the outer edge to give it movement, good luck I add semolina to make the stamen look authentic, if you do not have a cutter make the shape you like in cardboar or paper first wrap it up to see if you like the size etc then cardboard

Hi LeeAnn,

Can you tell me what type of leaf you used for this cake?

Again I just made up a shape in card, softened the edges and dusted it, the only reason for this is these flowers are the school logo not something I would use all the time, hence not worth buying the cutters. Just make it a nice length. Good luck.

I am having the worst luck finding those cutters actually in stock in any shop. I suppose I should just accept the fact that by now I've wasted more in gas money than the 5 bucks it would cost to have them shipped. A very popular flower in deed. icon_smile.gif

try using a heart shaped cutter... the point you see at the tip of the flower is the bottom of the heart, and you just wrap it around the stamen!
