Here is a link to the Melvira Method

Here is a link to the Viva method.

Hope one of these help. If you want more information on them do a search in the forums for them, there have been a lot of post about these two methods

Here is an article I just found to "square your cakes" I will try that one next time.

http://www.cakecentral.com/article51-How-To-Frost-a-Square-Cake.html

I have some of those rollers, but they are all in the garage! The stores around here are out of them!

Anyways I was desperate 2 weeks ago and I used my 2" butter brush (looks like a paintbrush!) over the viva towel instead of with my fingers. It worked really well. My DH & I are still looking for the rollers. But this is another way that might work for you too. Check out the blue Bunny in my photos. My DH told me that was the best one I had done yet. I was pretty please with how the blue turned out.

Good Luck

The best place to find the roller is at a home improvement or hardware store in the paint section. Just be sure to purchase the highest density version. It makes the difference between a spackled looking surface, or a perfectly smooth fondant-like surface! Good luck! Hope you like it!

My DH found them at Menards, have you washed these in the dishwasher before? Just wondering, they kind of smell like the hardware store!!

Good Day

I would not suggest using the dishwasher... it might tear up the foam. What I do is get it wet, put a dab of dish soap in my hands and work it into a lather, then rub it into the foam and rinse VERY well.

Thanks a bunch, will get working on the cleaning. Another questions I saw a couple of treads about getting square cake really square or round cakes to have really sharp corners. Just wondering how you would do this with the rolls? I saw 1 method about using spatulas, see link:

http://www.cakecentral.com/article51.html

So would you do that, then use the rolls?

Thanks so much.
