I've searched and have no idea how to go about doing this? Have any of you made fruit flavored buttercream? How would I do this?

They sell imitation strawberry extract, maybe you can add this instead of the vanilla.

I've mixed in strawberry jello powder before. Yummy.

If you are making IMBC, substitute a 15.25 oz container of Polaner's all-fruit for 1 cup of the sugar and the corn syrup in the sugar syrup recipe. Proceed to make the recipe as normal, leaving out any flavor extract. You may need to adjust the color - usually comes out looking like strawberry cream cheese to me so I add a little pink coloring to make it look more strawberry-y.

I just add seedless strawberry preserves to my regular buttercream. It does turn your icing pink, but it's delicious! I've also added jarred strawberry ice cream topping to my buttercream before, and it was good.

You guys are awesome as usual!!! I'm sure they'll want the icing pink so that's not a problem. Thank you SO much for the suggestions!

I have added the seedless preserves and that was yummy, but I have also pureed and strained fresh strawberries in place of the liquids, and that was delicious too! Jen

I make the regular buttercream and then add strawberry extract. Usually just a tsp or so will do!

I added Nestle's Strawberry Quik to BC once (the syrupy stuff that you put in milk). It was so good! Didn't affect the icing negatively in any way....

I'm so glad you asked this question. I have a request for a strawberry Easter Bunny CCC with strawberry buttercream icing. I finally got my strawberry cake recipe right. A reporter at a function told me it was the best she has had. I was thinking of adding strawberry jello powder to the buttercream, but I also have some strawberry quick on hand, so maybe I'll experiment. I'll bet the seedless jam is good too. Thanks for asking.

I make raspberry buttercream by adding seedless raspberry preserves (Smucker's) and it is delicious. You could just add seedless strawberry preserves. Sounds delicious! Good Luck

I just made rasberry buttercream using the rasberry Loran Oil, it was awesome! and it didn't take very much either, nor did it affect the frosting negatively. I imagine you could do the same with strawberry. I have the strawberry oil and it does have a reddish hue but because it wouldn't take much, you would probably end up having to color the frosting.

I have used Loran Oils for strawberry and raspberry BC. You can also use strawberry extract that is made by McCormicks.

Adding the strawberry jam worked great! Here was the finished product (w/ sugar eggs in front) I say "was" because it didn't last the afternoon. icon_biggrin.gif
