I made some NFSC for my husband to take to work today and he has called me and I have my first order. They are 2.5" Cutout cookies with Buttercream icing piped in 2 colors per cookie. And she wants them by Easter. I have never charged for anything before and am totally lost. I made 5 dozen for his work and it took me over 2 hours just to decorate them. Can someone help me?

I would say a minimum of $18 per dozen

This is a hard question to answer because it depends on your location. Where I am in small town Iowa, I charge $8/dozen for something like that. There is no way that customers around here would pay $18/dozen. It is too bad that your area has to reflect the price of your time & effort!!!

I told her $10 per dozen since this is my first order and she is also thinking about ordering a cake from me next month. I am just wanting to get my name out there, so this is a step in the right direction. Thanks for the help!

I think your $10 per dozen sound resonably fine! And yes it is a good way to get your feet off the ground! Good luck! thumbs_up.gif

$10 sound good to get stared just make sure that you tell her that she is getting the special price for being your first paying customer.

As you are getting started, just like I am it's really hard to charge people for stuff (easy to talk about but not when it's yours).

IMO as long as you cover your costs - all of them including electricity and packaging then you are good.

I have a few customers which get the friends and familly discount all the time. But when you get out of that first circle, you can expand a little.

Good luck!

Thanks for the help! The cookies turned out great and she really enjoyed them! It is so exciting to get my first paid order and know that they were happy with them!

They are in my photos if you want to see them. My computer is timing out when I try to add an attachment.
