So sorry you guys are having so many issues with your classes or mgnt.
I can't believe the expectations of these people. I was just talking to my DH about this, and he was just laughing, this is a cake decorating class it's not the CIA! They will have 4-6 classes not a few years to practice.
They want to make Ace of Cakes cakes, well good luck!
By the way when is the last time that first year med. students got to do open heart surgery!
Ok done venting.

I sure hope that for those of you who are teaching you can have at least a few nice students that will learn from you and have an appreciation for your skills. You all make such wonderful cakes.
All the best, just keep on having fun.

After reading this tread, I have even more appreciation for my teachers. I am glad that I can go in to the store and they know me and ask how I am and we can show each other or talk about the latests things we have done.
Wow, I am really lucky. Thanks

Good Luck.

My WMI didn't do actual CAKES for her demos @ the store. She made rosebuds & leaves, etc. on Vanilla Wafers. Or made designs on oreos or something like that. BC Roses on wax paper squares, etc.
I definately wouldn't do real cake work for a demo I had to do for FREE. icon_confused.gif

which store are you working for? At Michaels you get paid for your demo. You also have to hold the class for just one. Sure you can call and cancel, but if the person wants to take the class then you have to. Employee's do get free classes. I loved that. You get to take free classes from other employees. I have taken the one stroke classes and knitting. I hated knitting though.

Alli...my ec tried to tell me that I HAD to do demos, and they aren't paid. My supervisor told me that since they aren't paid that they are optional, and that she had my back if I decided I didn't want to do them. I did do one toward the end of February to get my class numbers up for this month, and apparently it worked!

Wow, a Michael's near me was advertising that they were looking for a WMI. I took the slip home but, haven't applied - don't think I'm ready yet. I've been second guessing myself though. icon_confused.gif After reading this post, I'm glad I decided against it for now.

don't do them. They are more of a suggestion. You could also call the wilton supervisor. I'm sure she could take care of it.
