I have heard that to make black fondant you start with chocolate and then add the black paste. I am trying MMF for the first time. Also, I am planning on making a tuxedo style groom's cake. Now, I have been warned that if you use too much black paste, it will taste bitter and that eating it will leave your mouth black. Is this true? The wedding is not until July 21, 2006 and now the bride has her heart set on my Prince Charlie Jacket design groom's cake for a surprise for the groom. Any suggestions? Many thanks - Deb
I just tint my white fondant black - but I'm sure you could start w/ chocolate. USE GLOVES! Or you'll stain your hands.
Also, I think alot of people take the fondant off because it is so sweet.
SatinIce makes a black fondant - much easier than tinting MMF, IMO. I have a fire helmet cake in my pictures that I used it on.
I just did one for the first time with blk fondant all I did was tint it blk I was affraid it wouldn't take but it did. its in my photos
I don't think the spray would give you the righ black
If you are using chocolate bc it shouldn't take as much black as it would if using white bc. If it was me I would just tint the chocolate BC to black. Remember you just need to get a charcol gray and it will turn black just let it sit for a while.
