This was an attempt at making a lighthouse. My daughter is coming to visit tomorrow and wanted a lighthouse cake for her birthday. Well I just had surgery on my shoulder last week and am still not up to par but I tried anyway. This came out so awful, but hopefully since she has never seen a 3d cake she wont notice how horrible it is. Hopefully yall can get a good laugh today lol cause we are rolling here. icon_lol.gif

I wouldn't call that the worst disaster ever! It's still standing, isn't it? icon_smile.gif

I think it looks decent. I'll take your word for it that you could have done better, but it's really not that bad!

I hope your shoulder feels better soon. Take it easy!

I have seen REAL lighthouses in worse shape!

You did a great job. Trust me, after surgery, I would have
done far worse----IF AT ALL!

I think it just has that 'weathered' look. Just tell your daughter it survived a storm. icon_lol.gif

I looked at your other cakes in the gallery and some of your comments about them. I think you are way to hard on yourself. You do great work and I think the lighthouse looks nice especially since you just had surgery!

you can only call it the worst disaster ever if it: falls over, gets eaten by a dog or toddler before it can be presented to the person it was for, gets dropped on the floor, or makes everyone sick!!! HAHA
Seriously I think it looks fine and your daughter will be HAPPY that YOU made her a cake!

I think your daughter would love any cake that you could make her. It's the sentimental value. She will love it, and I think it's cute!!

Just an update on the lighthouse cake, well since the cakes were still slightly frozen when I put them together (Mistake #1) they have now thawed completely and the lighthouse has sank down about 4 inches, needless to say all the fondant has slid down and looks like a big blobby mess at the bottom of the lighthouse, it is leaning so much that it now looks like the leaning tower of pisa. My DH says just tell her it went through a hurricane, LOL Well at least she will get a good laugh out of it and I know next time not to use frozen cakes, I was trying to make the cutting easier. Thanks for all the encouragement from you guys, I will try this cake again when my shoulder is 100% icon_smile.gif

My worst disaster ever wasz my second son's 1st bday. I was on crutches at the time, and instead of putting them down to take the cake out.................... I ended up dropping the cake on the floor. icon_cry.gif
