cake scraps are what is left over when you level you cake.. just small pieces of cake

someone here called them cake "fillets' this seems more of an appropriate name since a scrap is something not wanted and these little slivers are highly desired at my house.

I wanna make cake balls but I never have any cake scrapes! 
My kids (in their mid 20's) eat it as fast as I trim them!!

I made a whole cake and crumbled it up just so I could try those cake balls - YUM!
